Mary Louella Spaugh

PARIS — Our dearly loved mother and grandmother, Mary Louella Spaugh, 88, of Paris, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at her home.

She was born on June 21, 1926, in Hawkins, to Perry and Tressa (Rogers) Herring and attended Reed City schools.

She married Richard Spaugh on May 12, 1954. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1999.

Mary enjoyed bird watching, NASCAR, bingo and her trips to the casino, among many other things. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by one daughter, Cindy Spaugh (Steve Dever), of Hersey; four sons, Duane (Wilma) Kutchinski, of Grant Center, Richard (Terri) Spaugh, of Chippewa Lake, Robert Spaugh, and Eric (Barbara) Spaugh, both of Paris; three brothers, Dale (Treva) Herring, of Hawkins, Norman (Karen) Herring, of Cadillac, and Larry (Joan) Herring, of Reed City; two sisters, Deloris Wood, of New Mexico, and Sharon Marcellus, of Scottville; in laws, Bea Smith, Judy Overmyer, Bud (Sharon) Spaugh, Jeannette (Jim) Wallert and Vicki (Seth) Coon; seven grandchildren, Rich Spaugh, Raymond (Tina) Spaugh, Ryan Spaugh, Bobby Spaugh (daughter Ashley), Eric (Suzanne) Spaugh, Ashly Spaugh and Riley Spaugh, 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Perry, Jr. and Vernon Herring; sisters, Myrtle Thrasher, Delaphine Russell and Ivoliene Todd; and in laws, Earnest Russell, Lela Graham, Robert Marcellus, Preston Vincent, Terry Overmyer and Bryan Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at McDowell Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Fix officiating. Burial will be in Chase Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) Oct. 20.
