Mary A. McLachlan-Rohdy

Mary Alene McLachlan-Rohdy of Clare passed away Sunday Nov. 4, 2012 at Prestige Place in Clare. She was 90.

Mary was born October 8, 1922, in Evart Township., Osceola County, on the family farm to Russell N. and Rhoda E. (Blanchard) McLachlan. She graduated from Evart High School in 1941. She married Glenn C. Rohdy December 1, 1944, in Williamsburg, Virginia, he preceded her in death June 22, 2005.

Mary had resided in Evart, Higgins Lake, Clearwater, FL, and Clare. She had worked as a grocery clerk, did accounting for Davy & Co., and retired after 35 years as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. She attended Free Methodist churches in Evart, Roscommon, and Largo, FL.

Mary’s home was always open for guests. She loved attending her grandkids sporting events. She was known for her baking and making wedding cakes. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and crafts.

Her daughter, Glenda (Dennis) Carmoney of Clare, son Cameron (Hoi) Rohdy of Bellevue, WA, daughter-in-law Jackie Rohdy of  Dowagiac, four grandchildren, Craig (Kelly) Carmoney of Sanford, Randy (Laura) Carmony of Grand Rapids, Dr. Tom (Dr. Judy Chen) Rohdy of Bellevue, WA, & Tanna (Drew) Sheneman of Bedminster, NJ, eight great grandchildren, Lindsay, Jackson, Sydney, Hunter, Sawyer, Alexandra, Bennett, and Keenan, three sisters, Jane (Eldon) Kneisel of Flint, Joan Morcom of Lakeland, FL, & Eva (Dale) Williams of Hersey, 1 brother, Archie (Lynn) McLachlan of FL survive her. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, her son Jim, five sisters, Jean Grant, Rhoda Pitts, Shirley Bentley, Barbara White, and Lois Pettit, and three brothers, Elmer, Paul, and John McLachlan .

Funeral services for Mary Alene McLachlan-Rohdy are 1 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 7, at the Evart Free Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Bullock officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart, Michigan.
