Mary A. Blanchard

LAKE ANN — Mary A. Blanchard, 85, of Lake Ann (formerly of Evart and Dewitt), passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Tender Care of Leelanau in Suttons Bay.

Mary was born on Jan. 2, 1931, in Hersey Township, to Carl and Helen (Summer) Bailey. She graduated from Barryton High School in 1950. Mary married Robert “Bert” Blanchard on Feb. 23, 1951, in Big Rapids. She moved from Dewitt to Evart in 1970 after Bert’s passing. Mary raised four amazing children and loved spending time with them and their families. She enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Karen (Steve) Hiner, of St. Johns and Kyle (Aaron) Maney, of Evart; two sons, Greg (Diana) Blanchard, of Evart and Noel Blanchard, of Lake Ann; six grandchildren, Ryan (Kari) Hiner, Brittany (Todd) LaRue, Lorrie (Shane) Conk, Derek (Megan) Maney, Megan Blanchard and Austin Blanchard; seven great-grandchildren, Alexander and Nicolas Hiner, Olivia and Ethan Conk, Rylan and Rayleigh Maney and Reese LaRue; two sisters, Dort Doss, of Troy, and Dolly (Dick) Peters, of Evart; three brothers, Fred (Vera) Bailey, of Hersey, George (Dorothy) Bailey, of Evart, and Dale (Jackie) Bailey, of Evart; sister-in-law, Joyce Bailey, of Evart; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert “Bert” Blanchard; and her brother, Bruce Bailey.

Funeral services for Mary Ann Blanchard are at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart, with Sandy Keller officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the funeral home. Mary will be interred next to her husband in Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart.
