Marvin W. Cass, of Evart, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Spectrum Butterworth in Grand Rapids. He was 81.

Mr. Cass was born November 10, 1930 in Lansing, Michigan to Blaine and Clara (DeVoe) Cass. He was raised in the Evart area until the tenth grade and moved back in 1955.

He was a 1949 graduate of South Gate High School in California. Mr. Cass was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He married Corena Feikema July 28th, 1957 in Evart. He was a long time manager for A&P grocery stores and was co-owner of Orton’s IGA in Evart. He was an active member of Faith Bible Church serving as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and anywhere he was needed. He was a member of VFW Post 7979, Evart and a member of the National Veterans Association.

Mr. Cass enjoyed his garden, carpenter jobs, and lawn care.

His wife Corena Cass of Evart, four daughters, Susan (Larry) Munger of Lansing, Mary Welliver of Westland, Penny Paine of Cadillac, Anna Southwell of Arkansas, one son Nathan Blaine Cass of Evart, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren survive him. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Marvin Willis Cass are 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Faith Bible Church with Pastor Timothy Ford officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 1 1a.m. until time of services at the church. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart, Michigan.
