SEARS — Marjorie F. Tiedt, 96, of Sears passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Spectrum Health- Reed City Campus. She was born January 20, 1915 in Orient Township, Osceola Co. to James A. and Maggie M. Kent Brooks.

She graduated from Evart High School in 1931. On March 28, 1933, she was married to Edmund R. Tiedt who preceded her in death in 1977. She was a lifelong Sears area resident, working as a bookkeeper for Smith Lumber in Evart, retiring in 1980. She was a devoted member of Brooks Corners United Methodist Church, where she was former pianist, Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star; member of Michigan Farm Bureau; 4-H leader for 30 years; active in the Home Extension Service; Treasurer for 4-H FFA Free Fair for many years; she was honored to be Grand Marshal for the Evart Fourth of July Parade and active in the Evart Seniors Club and traveled extensively with them. She enjoyed bird watching, cards, reading, crossword puzzles and being with her entire family.

She leaves behind three daughters, Mary Lee (Marvin) Schram, of Maple City, Elsie (Robert) Connor, of Sears, and Ellen Jean (Paul) Smaltz, of Sears; one son, Alan (Patricia) Tiedt, of Sears; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Corey Funeral Home, Evart with Pastor Joe Beaven officiating. Place of interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart.
