EVART — Marian Eileen Southwell, age 83, of Evart, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1931 in Mancelona. Paul and Margaret Fishburn were her parents. Marian graduated from Mancelona High School in 1948 and received a high school diploma. She was married to Harold Southwell in 1955 and lived in Flint for 23 years.

Marian was a homemaker her entire married life of 44 years. She was an excellent cook, homemaker and always made people feel welcome in her home. Marian joined Brooks Corners United Methodist Church in 1980. She was active in Sunday school, Bible studies and United Methodist Women. Some of her favorite hymns were “In the Garden,” “Mansion Over the Hilltop” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Marian also was active in T.O.P.S. of Evart for many years. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, her canasta club and most of all being a wife and mom.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judy Grandas, and her husband, Michael, of Flushing, and Sandra Carmichael, and her husband, Doug, of Evart. Half-children are Sherry Kilbourn, Barb Smith, and her husband, Phil; Bruce Southwell, and his wife, Barb; Bryce Southwell,  and his wife, Jodi. She also is survived by a younger sister, Elaine Minsey, who resides in Florida. Marian has six grandchildren, Ryan, Blake and Chelsea, from her first daughter, Judy; and from her daughter, Sandra, she has Luke, Benjamin and Leah. She also has eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were an infant son, Matthew James, in 1962; an older sister, Alice Clyne; and her beloved husband, Harold, in 1999.

Funeral viewing will begin at 11 a.m. and the  funeral will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at the Corey Funeral Home, with pastor Eugene Baughan presiding. Interment will take place at Osceola Township Cemetery.
