SEARS — Mamie E. Turner, 85, of Sears, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Spectrum Health-Reed City Campus.

Mrs. Turner was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Orient Township in Osceola County to Archa Wills and Lova Mae Stover Wills. She married Loren Turner in 1944, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1986.

Mrs. Turner was a lifelong Sears area resident. She and her husband owned and operated Turner Sporting Goods from 1955 to 1986. Mamie’s true joy in life was her family. She enjoyed traveling and puzzles. She loved the outdoors, fishing and beachcombing, collecting seashells and Petoskey stones.

She is survived by her daughter, Loraine McCall, of Sears; two granddaughters, Tracey (Peter) Seager, of Evart, and Stacey (Bruce) Reed, of Reed City; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Sierra Cass and Loren and Desiree Reed; sister, Ruth Oyster, of Sears; and many nieces and nephews.

Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren; four sisters, Alice, Pat, Irene and Nellie; and five brothers, Wes, Victor, Olin, Archie and Raymond.

Funeral services for Mamie E. Turner will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart, with Pastor Dick Latham of the Sears of God officiating. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday. Internment will take place at the Orient Township Cemetery in Osceola County.
