REED CITY - Maella (Vincent) Schooley, 89, of Reed City, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

She was born on July 16, 1923, and lived her entire life in the Reed City area. Maella was married on June 5, 1943, to Virgil Schooley.

She spent her entire life as a farmer’s wife taking care of her three children, cooking, cleaning, gardening and lawn work. She was a lifelong member of the Chase-Barton United Methodist Church. She attended church faithfully, was a secretary for many years and helped with many church activities

Surviving are her daughters, Betty Gawne, Nancy (Rod) Weck and Cindy (Mike) Erbes; brother, Marvin (Dana) Vincent; grandchildren, Darin and Jason Gawne, Chad and Ryan Holmquist, and Garrett, Gavin and Ciara Erbes; and six great grandchildren.

Maella was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Esther Vincent; her husband, Virgil Schooley; and brothers, Junior, Richard and Gary V incent.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Chase-Barton United Methodist Church in Chase with Pastor Lyle Ball officiating. Burial will follow at the Chase Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chase-Barton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 104, Chase, MI 49623. Friends and family may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City and one hour prior to the funeral service at Chase-Barton United Methodist Church.
