MSU Extension offers free Property Tax Foreclosure Basics webinar    

LANSING — Would you like to know what kinds of assistance are available? Do you know there are ways to plan paying back taxes so you can keep the property?

For Michigan households who are facing foreclosure due to unpaid property taxes, it is a stressful situation. With the current COVID-19 crisis many have experienced a loss or reduction of income or another hardship.

This free webinar being offered by MSU Extension’s Financial and Homeownership team, will be held via zoom at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, and 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 16. Participants will learn:

• The three year property tax timeline in Michigan

• Several options for possible assistance

• Ways to plan paying back taxes to keep the property

• Where to find a HUD certified housing counselor and other local resources

There is no charge for attending any of these webinars but pre-registration is required by going to mimoneyhealth.org. These three dates are the same class repeated three times, once per month; participants only need to attend one session to receive the information.
