REED CITY — Lucille M. Rugg, 88, of Reed City, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

She was born on March 16, 1928, in East Grand Rapids, to Raymond and Hilda (Ericksen) Hice, and attended Grand Rapids area schools, graduating from South High School in 1946. She then attended Western Michigan, receiving her teaching degree.

Lucille married Rodney Rugg on Aug. 19, 1950. He survives.

Also surviving are daughter, Marta (Steve) Hammond, of Billings, Mo.; son, Raymond (Kathleen) Rugg, of Eagar, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Royal (Amanda) Rugg and Maya Rugg. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Betty (Ed) Spomer.

Rod and Lucille were residents of Reed City since 1964. She had worked at the Ferris State University bookstore for 30 years. She was an active member of the Reed City United Methodist Church and the womens’ groups of the church. She also had been a member of a 4-H Extension group. Funeral services were on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at the Reed City United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kathy Cadarette officiating.

The family requests memorials be made to the United Methodist Church.
