LAKE CITY — Lorraine Lillian Krakowski, of Lake City, formerly of LeRoy, passed away on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, with her family by her side, at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was 81 years old.

She was born on April 16, 1930, to Hilmer and Marion (Beardsley) Strandberg in Big Beaver. She married Walter T. Krakowski on June 12, 1948, in Detroit. Lorraine worked as a nurse from 1958 to the early 1970s. She was a baseball fan, loved square dancing, and snowmobiling. Lorraine and Walter had owned and operated the LeRoy Hardware Store from 1974 to 1980 and resided in LeRoy for more than 30 years, spending winters in Florida. She and her late husband, Walter, had recently moved to the Lake City area to be closer to their family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (John) Kendziorski, of Lake City, and Glenda (William) Robinson, of Clinton Township; eight grandchildren, Eva, Tammy, Shelley, Pete, Shannon, Edrea, John and Aaron; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Marion and Phyllis.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at the Young Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rod Kamrath officiating, and a luncheon to follow at the American Legion #300 Hall.
