Lester Phenix

FARWELL — Lester Lowery Phenix, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Northwood’s in Farwell, with his family by his side.

He was born on April 15, 1917, in Sherman City, to Roy and Erma (Huff) Phenix.

Lester married Evelyn P. Hillier on March 22, 1941. Evelyn preceded him in death on April 22, 1998. He retired from Yoplait, formerly Michigan Cottage Cheese, as a dairy supervisor where he had 31 years of service. He was a World War II veteran serving four years overseas with the U.S. Army. He was a VFW Post No. 7979 member. He enjoyed hunting, and shooting his guns and spending quality time with his family.

He is survived by his two sons, Vernon (Carol) Phenix, of Lake, and Roger (Susan), of Farwell; eight grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two sisters, Lena and Irene.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Corey Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, and an hour prior to the service at Corey Funeral Home. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart.
