Kay L. McNeilly

SEARS — Kay L. McNeilly, 78, of Sears, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2014, with her loving family at her side.

Kay was born in Coldwater Township in Isabella County, on May 26, 1935, to Martin and Nora (Forbes) Jones. She graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1953 and married Eldon A. McNeilly in Barryton on Nov. 28 1953.

Eldon and Kay have resided in Sears on the McNeilly family farm since 1971, when they purchased it from Eldon’s dad. They have continued to farm until the present day. Along with raising seven children, Kay worked alongside Eldon at McNeilly’s Market, a store they owned in Barryton in the 1960’s. She was a cook at Louisa’s Country Place in the mid 1970’s, worked at Wolverine World Wide in the late 1970’s and retired after 20 years of service from Evart Products in 2000.

Kay looked forward to wintering in Arizona and missed the last two winters there due to declining health. She enjoyed sewing, camping, baking, canning and, most of all, spending time with her grandkids.

Kay is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eldon, of Sears; children, Deborah (James) Campbell, of Ann Arbor, Melody (Dale) Kesler, of Edwardsburg, Rose (Michael) Simon, of Big Rapids, Kevin McNeilly, of Sears, Jeff (Patti) McNeilly, of Sears, Lorrie McNeilly, of Weidman and Trudy (Terry) Vogel, of Sears; two sisters, Bonnie Hyder and Carol (Bruce) Navarre; brothers and sisters-in-law, Imogene McNeilly, Lavonne (Lynn) Adams, Aletha McNeilly, Gene (Louise) Brigner, Darwin (Sharon) Helmer and Arlo (Mary) Bentley; 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
