She was born Aug. 2, 1915, in Reed City to Herbert and Nellie (Robson) Shoemaker, and attended school in Reed City, graduating from Reed City High School.

Kathleen married Loren Kilmer on May 30, 1937. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2002.

She lived most of her life in the Reed City and Chase area, and spent winters in Mission, TX from 1974 to 2010. She and her family operated a music store in Reed City for five years, and she also worked a receptionist at Reed City Hospital.

She was a member of the Reed City United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. In recent years, she attended the Chase – Barton United Methodist Church.

Kathleen is survived by her sons; Michael (Joanne) of Mission, TX, Craig (Blanca) of Houston, TX, and Kenneth of Chase; 2 grandchildren, Kevin and Jennifer Kilmer; two step grandchildren, Romina and Luis Balcazar; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Dietel of Chase, and one brother, Kenton Deane Shoemaker of Ashville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her brother Louis Shoemaker and sister Alberta Sisson.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 4 at McDowell Funeral Home with Pastor Lyle Ball officiating. Burial was in Chase Township Cemetery.
