EVART — Joseph Lynn Peltier, 73, of Evart, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital.

He was born on Dec.10, 1940, to Olga (Laudrbach) and Frank Peltier. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Mt. Clemens High School. Joe was a member of the Moose Fraternity in Evart, the Eagles Fraternity in Marion and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Detroit area for more than 50 years. He was a member of Sears Church of God, in Sears. Joe’s career as an electrician started with his apprenticeship in Local 58 in 1965. Joe retired from the IBEW in December of 2000 and retired next to the Muskegon River near Evart in 2001.

He is survived by his current wife, Jean Halberstadt Greenhough Peltier; three daughters, Tammy Peltier Maniere, Tracy Peltier Smiddy (Mike) and Tina Peltier Maliniak (Matthew); two step-daughters, Patti Greenhough Springer (Don) and Heather Greenhough Halpin (Tom); 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Peltier Cole (Art); sister-in-law, Mildred (Don) Peltier; brother-in-law, Don Halberstadt (June); and sister-in-law, Isabel Halberstadt (Charles, deceased).

Joe was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Trudy Ziehms Peltier; his brothers, Jim, Frank, Don and Dwayne Peltier; his sisters, Doris Arnold and Margaret Barnett; a step-son, Paul Greenhough; and daughter-in-law, Diane Cournoyer Greenhough.

Funeral services for Joseph Lynn Peltier are at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at the Sears Church of God, 5955 40th Ave., Sears, MI 49679. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at the Corey Funeral Home, 415 N. Main St. in Evart, and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society in Joe Peltier’s name.
