EVART - John Burton Yeager, of Evart, passed away at his home in Osceola Township Tuesday, September 25, 2012. He was 78.

He was born July 12, 1934 in Gladwin, Michigan to Otto Burton and Mae (Wallace) Yeager.

John married Viola Stein in Evart on April 6th, 1961. He was a lifelong Evart area resident and spent most of his working life in the oil fields and cutting pulpwood. He was a member of the Evart Free Methodist Church and had helped build the new church and parsonage. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and rabbit hunting. His grandchildren were the love of his life.

His wife Viola Yeager of Evart, five daughters, Doris (William) Lewis of Evart, Faith (Leroy) Woodbury of Barryton, Eloise Londo of Reed City, Melody (Kenny) Marshall of Harrison, Tina (Ronald) Gilby of Harrison, two sons, Stephen Dice of Barryton , Mark (June) Yeager of Barryton, 27 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two sisters, Anna Ureste of Barryton, Diane Williams of Reed City, and a brother Gus Yeager of Evart survive him.

His parents, daughter Lucille Yeager, two sons David Dice and an infant son Mark, two sisters Elinore Heminway and Helen Swales, and two brothers, Willie and Harold preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Mr. Yeager are 1 p.m., Friday, September 28 at the Evart Free Methodist Church. Visitation will take place 11 a.m. until time of services at the church. Internment will be in the Osceola Township Cemetery.
