Ila Mae Coleman

EVART — Ila Mae Coleman, 97, of Evart, formerly of Waterford, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at the home of her son in Osceola Township.

Ila was born on July 28, 1918, in Osceola Township, to Henry and Anna (MacDougall) Gardner. She was a 1935 graduate of Evart High School. Ila married Guy Coleman on May 7, 1966, in Oakland County. She was a member of United Auto Workers and had worked for General Motors Truck and Bus for 48 years, retiring in 1990. She loved her work and her family.

Ila is survived by her husband, Guy Coleman, of Waterford; her son, Roland (Gladys) Phelps, of Evart; her step-daughter, Pam (Edward) Perez, of Flintstone, Ga.; four granddaughters, Diane (Bruce) Brackett. of Sears, Marcia (Scott) Frye, of Muskegon, Patricia (Marty) Bell-Beemer, of Big Rapids, and Tiffanie (Randy) Smith, of Ringgold, Ga.; six grandsons, Alan Phelps, of Marion, Kevin (Sandy) Phelps, of Clarkston, Randy (Nancy) Phelps, of Ada, Thomas (Amy) Bell, of Rockford, David (Cheri) Phelps, of Lowell, and Andrew Phelps, of Grand Rapids; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services for Ila Mae Coleman will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Friday. Ila will be interred next to her mother in the Sylvan Township Cemetery.
