Ila L. McKinstry

EVART — Ila L. McKinstry, 86, of Evart, passed away on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at her home in Evart Township.

Ila was born on Aug. 21, 1928, in Pinconning, to Charles Edgar and Freda (Lucke) Gittins. She married Vern James Mckinstry on June 28, 1952, in Pinconning, and he preceded her in death in 2006. Ila was an Evart area resident from the time she was married. She worked at Evart Products for more than 20 years. She was a member of Sears Church of God and was in charge of their historical records. Ila enjoyed genealogy and was an avid gardener.

Ila is survived by two daughters, Karen (John) Wixon, of Evart and Janice (Ray) Linehart, of Sears; two sons, Wesley McKinstry, of Evart and Brian (Marcie) McKinstry, of Cadillac; four grandchildren, Brenda (Matt) VanAssche, of Evart, Andrea (Charles) Richardson, of Kentwood, Brain (Alexandria) McKinstry, of Evart and Sage McKinstry, of Cadillac; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Martha Moore, of Kawkawlin, Irene Berner, of Crump and June Yonkey, of Pinconning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vern; a sister, Pauline Ware; an infant brother; a toddler brother, Archie; and brothers, Wesley and John Gittins.

Funeral services for Ila L. McKinstry were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at the Sears Church of God, with Pastor Dick Latham officiating. Visitation was on Monday at the church. Ila will be interred in Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart, next to her husband.
