CHIPPEWA LAKE — Henry Hazen Knapp, 47, of Chippewa Lake, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, in Big Rapids.

He was born on July 20, 1966, in Lakeview, to Dale Herald Knapp and Adeline Marie Edgerly, was raised in Reed City and was a 1984 graduate of Reed City High School. Henry served in the United States Army as a helicopter repair technician at Ft. Richardson, Ala. He was an oil field worker, with his last position as a driller. Until his passing, he owned and operated Red Oak Tree Service. He was a member of the Big Rapids Amvets Post No. 1941, Big Rapids Eagles No. 2535 and the Reed City Moose Lodge No. 705. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping with his friend, Scott Pontz.

He is survived by his children, Anthony Dale Knapp, of Hawkins and SPC Andrew Roblee Perotti, of North Carolina; step-daughter, Meesha Kilbourne, of Battle Creek; fiancée, Margaret (Peggy) Waite, of Chippewa Lake; mother, Marie Knapp, of Reed City; brothers, Theodore Knapp, of Rogers Heights and Kevin (Beatrice Lytle), of Reed City; sisters, Maryann Knapp, of Evart, Karen (Brian) Cool, of Leroy, Kathy (Brian) Steig, of Reed City and Nancy Knapp, of Florida; and multiple nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Herald Knapp.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at the Reed City Moose Lodge No. 705, with a luncheon and refreshments to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to his family.
