CHASE — Harold T. Blanchard, 87, of Chase, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at his home.

He was born on June 29, 1925, in Lake County’s Chase Township, to Harrison and Effie (Schoup) Blanchard. He attended Chase School.

Harold served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. He married Jo Ellen Rolston on Jan. 6, 1951, in Chase, who survives.

He worked as a truck driver for Robbins Flooring and Van’s Lumber in Reed City, Evart Products and at United Glass in Big Rapids for 15 years, before retiring in 1987.

In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by two daughters, Karen (Don) Bluhm, of Hersey, and Terri (Dave) Pontz, of Reed City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles; and two sisters, Bernice and Doris.

Harold enjoyed bowling, cards, camping, hunting, fishing and small engine repair.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27 at McDowell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Emmett Kadwell officiating. Burial will be in the Chase Village Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the funeral home.
