EVART — Gifts for Kids of Osceola County gave parents a chance to pick out Christmas gifts and other items for their families. The annual event took place Saturday at the Evart Middle School.

“This event has an income-eligibility criteria,” John Klever, event volunteer. “We want to help families of Osceola County have a better Christmas.”

Each parent who came to Gifts for Kids walked around to the different tables to choose specific items for their families.

In addition to toys and clothing necessities, such as socks and underwear, families could pick out a board game to promote family togetherness, said Klever.

They also got cleaning supplies and hygiene items, a voucher to Love Inc., and a $15 certificate to go toward meat for Christmas.

“We had a little over 210 families registered this year. Well over 750 individuals were served,” Klever said. “We always accept donations throughout the year. This program is 100 percent funded by the community. Without donations, this would not exist.”

Donations for Gifts for Kids can be sent to the Department of Human Services in Big Rapids.
