EVART — Belly-flops and cannonballs were a part of the day's studies for many G.T. Elementary students.

Adorned with life jackets, many students from the Reed City school spent a couple of hours on Wednesday, Feb. 22, swimming around the indoor pool at SpringHill Camps north of Evart as part of their physical education class.

A morning and afternoon session took place, which included swimming and water safety instruction — but also a lot of fun with classmates.

"We played ball with our friends," said third-grader Nate Spedowski, following Wednesday's morning session. "It was a lot of fun and I went down the slide."

Macie Fenton, another student in Dawn Hilliard's third-grade class, said she and her friends had a lot of fun when they were in the pool.

"I liked playing in the deep end with my friends," she said.

G.T. Norman Elementary Principal DeAnna Goodman said the time spent at the pool is part of students' water safety course called Whales Tails.

Goodman said SpringHill Camps has been a destination for about 10 years.
