Freda May (Gerard) Kushmaul

EVART — Freda May (Gerard) Kushmaul went home Saturday, May 5 after a brief illness.

She was born and raised in Cadillac,  moving to Evart in 1972. She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Cadillac and had attended the Sears Church of God for the past 21 years.

Her church and community involvements included singing, (solo, small groups, and choir for church), teaching Sunday School classes, coaching a Pom Pom Cheer Squad and C.A.S.A. girls softball teams, Boy Scout Den Mother, and Girl Scout Troop Leader.

She enjoyed camping, art and crafts, crocheting, and sewing. She loved watching the birds come to her feeders and the symphony of wind chimes giving a daily concert on her porches. She believed the best color God ever made was red and her favorite flowers were carnations, red of course.

Mrs. Kushmaul is survived by five daughters, Debra Lockwood of Evart, Kris Dalley of Clare, Amy Kushmaul of Cadillac, Barb (Medo) Fernandez of North Pole, Alaska, and Tracy (Jeff) Gurin of Chase, two sons, Bill (Leann) Kushmaul, of Montana, and Jason (Jamie) Kushmaul of Evart, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Yvonne Gerard.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kushmaul are 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Sears of God with Pastor Dick Latham officiating.

Visitation is 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday. Internment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
