EVART — Fred M. Champagne, 61, of Evart, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the home of his sister in Cedar Township in Osceola County.

Fred was born on Jan. 5, 1955, in Detroit, to Marcel Joseph and Shirley Margaret (Martin) Champagne. He moved to the Evart area from Farmington in 1976. Fred was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. He had worked at Yoplait in Reed City until his health forced him to retire. Fred enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hunt and fish.

Fred is survived by his three sons, Scott A. (Diana) Champagne, of West Bend, Wis., Bradley A. Champagne, of Reed City, and Matthew A. (Angela) Champagne, of Evart; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Yvonne (Larry) Marks, of LeRoy, Michelle (Randy) Lloyd, of Evart, and Yvette (Alan) Hopkins, of Evart; and one brother, Maurice (Faith) Champagne, of Reed City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Vicki Hubenschmidt and Wendy Mical.
