REED CITY — Evelyn Kay Mitchell, 75, of Reed City, formerly of Holmes Beach, Fla., passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014.

During her early years of marriage, Evelyn worked at Pioneer Publications in the circulation and accounting departments. In 1976, Evelyn moved to Anna Maria Island, Fla., where she was employed as a service representative in various banks. She earned her credentials as a real estate agent and was employed by Mike Norman Realty, Coldwell Banker, and later with Green Realty. In 1985, Evelyn married Robert “Clam Bob” Mulholland.

Evelyn was a member of the Anna Maria Community Center. Known to most of her friends as Evy, her infectious smile and laughter filled the lives of so many who shared her company. She was a lifelong member of the Woman of the Moose, first in Reed City, then at Bradenton Beach, Fla. Her hopes were to be a retiring resident at Moose Haven in Florida, but in the last years of her life, moved to be near her kin in Reed City.

She is survived by four children with Roger Mitchell, Susan (Norman) Carpenter, of Reed City, Steven Mitchell, of Paris, Sandra (Douglas) Anderson, of Paris, and Scott Mitchell, of Saranac; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, David (Betty) Mitchell, Delores (David) VanPeeren, all of Reed City, Paul (Suzanne) Mitchell, Jerry (Lynn) Mitchell, all of Hersey, and Luin Mitchell, of Georgia.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Matilda Mitchell; husband, Robert; and two elder sisters and their spouses, Dorothy and Ronald Stewart, and Lorraine and William Hornby.

At Evelyn’s request, no service will be held. There will be a celebration of life gathering at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, in Reed City, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women of the Moose for a one time scholarship award.
