EVART – Evart’s wrestling squad scored two wins in a quad in Kingsley against Manton and Frankfort on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

“We started off with a victory against Manton by a score of 51-12,” Ben Bryant said. “We wrestled well and got pins from Cole Staats, Joe Kunin, Riley Ransom, Landon Babb, Cole Hopkins, Sam Bailey, and Alex Burhans.”

Next up was Frankfort and we came out with a 47-3 win. We got pins from Ransom, Hopkins, Bailey, Burhans, and Ethan Conk. I'm looking forward to getting a few of our wrestlers back and having our complete lineup after break.

Pine River 2-0

LEROY – Pine River had its first conference dual of the season at home and beat Roscommon and 72-6 Benzie Central and 49-19 on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Jordan Nelson (119), Phil Rigling (152), Cayden Mys (160), Rogan Nelson (171), Hunter Varney (189) and Andrew Baldwin (215) were all 2-0.

“We have been stressing the importance of bonus points so tonight was encouraging as had 11 pins and only gave up one and that was the difference against a very good young Benzie team,” Pine River coach Terry Martin said. “It was also great to see the upper part of our lineup do so well tonight Rogan Nelson, Hunter Varney, and Andrew Baldwin all had great wins for us.”

Pine River is off until Jan. 5 when it has a match at Kingsley.
