Evart man charged with 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct

OSCEOLA COUNTY — An Evart man is facing several charges, including third degree criminal sexual conduct, after being arrested last week by the Michigan State Police.

Brian Gene Beemer, of Evart, was arraigned on Feb. 17 in the 77th District Court in Osceola County for one count child sexually abusive activity, one count criminal sexual conduct third degree victim 13-15, possession child sexually abusive material, children accosting for immoral purposes, and one count contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The case dates back to August when troopers from the MSP Cadillac Post were dispatched to a complaint of an inappropriate relationship between a 13-year-old child and 54-year-old man, according to a news release from the Michigan State Police. As part of the investigation, troopers conducted a search warrant at Beemer's Evart residence, seizing cell phones and other electronic devices to be sent to the MSP Computer Crime Unit for analysis.

Beemer was arrested on Feb. 16, at his residence and arraigned the next day. Bond was set at $50,000 cash surety. His next court appearance was set for 1:30 p.m. on March 10.
