Evart Car Club holding cruise to Eight Point Lake on Sept. 2

Corresponding car show has been canceled, though

EVART — The Evart Car Club is once again holding their annual Car Cruise to Eight Point Lake.

The club usually does a car show alongside the car cruise, held the Friday before Labor Day each year, but it had to be canceled this year due to a lack of volunteers.

Club president Doug Trembath said, "We reluctantly canceled it. There was a lot of discussion. Like a lot of volunteer organizations, people are protective of their time. For a while, our numbers were dwindling also, another complicating factor."

Trembath said the club is always looking for new members and their website, evartcarclub.com, is the best place for people to sign up. Car ownership is not required. Dues are $10 a year, or $12 a year for member and spouse.

Last year's car cruise was a success, with 27 cars lined up at the airport, and 10-13 more picked up on the way.

"We expect to have a good crowd. Traditionally, the residents really enjoy the cruise," Trembath said.

The police will assist the line of cars as they ride through Evart, before they travel unescorted to the Eight Point Lake subdivisions.

Lineup for the cruise is 4 p.m. at the Evart Municipal Airport, on North Industrial Drive off M-20, for a 5 p.m. start.
