EVART — Duane F. Tiedt, 76, of Evart, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at his home in Evart Township.

Duane was born on June 3, 1938, in Evart, to Ernest F. and Audrey C. (Osborn) Tiedt. He graduated from Evart High School in 1956 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Duane married Lou Anna Wineman on June 17, 1961, in Evart. He was an Evart-area resident moving to South Carolina with his job, retiring back to Evart in 1997. Duane worked as a supervisor for Kel-Reed (Cooper Tools), retiring in 1996 after 37 years. He also worked part-time at Dick’s Texaco and construction work with his father-in-law, Donovan Wineman. Duane was a Boy Scout volunteer, a hobby farmer and a lifetime member of the Moose. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, Farmall tractors and stock car racing in his car, the 6 Pak.

Duane is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lou Anna Tiedt, of Evart; his daughter, Karen Butvila, of Wixom; two sons, Jeff Tiedt, of Evart, and Kevin Tiedt, of Sears; four grandchildren, Michael Youngs, of South Lyon, Tanner Youngs, of Belleville, Tyler Tiedt, of Zeeland, and Roman Tiedt, of Sears; a sister, Connie Holloway, of Midland; a brother, Daryl (Linda) Tiedt, of Evart; sister-in-law, Loretta Tiedt, of Evart; brother-in-law, Czerney Blake, of Cadillac; and many nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Douglas Duane and Donovan; sister, Ernestine Blake; brother, Eddie Tiedt; and brother-in-law, Bob Holloway.

Memorial services for Duane F. Tiedt are at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Corey Funeral Home, in Evart, with the Rev. Donna Scott officiating. Friends can meet with the family from 10 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart.
