Donald A. McNeil

EVART — Donald A. McNeil, 80, of Evart passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at his home.

He was born Oct. 7, 1931 in Pontiac to Donald McNeil and Dorothy (Wiigins) McNeil. He was married Nov. 27, 1954 in Mount Pleasant to Alice Marie Grove, who preceded him in death on July 2, 2006. He worked in Waterford for 25 years, retiring to the Evart area in 1994, where he was a proud member of the NRA; AMVETS and VFW Post 7979 in Evart. He was also a member of the American Legion Post in Mount Pleasant. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He leaves behind two daughters, Patricia Lynn (Thomas) Zuck, of Waterford, and Kathleen Mary (William) Schmitz, of Wixom; three sons, Daniel Wayne (Barbara) McNeil, of Holly, James Donald (Judy) McNeil, of Otisville, and Terrence Lee (Joyce) McNeil, of Fenton; three sisters, Charlotte (James) Bishop, of Marion, Sharon (James) Sneller, of Clio, and Karen (Larry) Alexander, of Farwell; four brothers, Kenneth (Mary) McNeil, of Evart, Richard (Katie) McNeil, of Franklin, N.C., Gary (Connie) McNeil, of Auburn Hills and Larry (Donna) McNeil, of Sears; 10 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Marie; and an infant sister, Mabel.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 5 at Corey Funeral Home, Evart with funeral and military rites by VFW Post 7979, Evart.
