2022 Detroit Auto Show, flying cars, electric Monster Trucks and more

The 2022 North American International Auto Show, also known as, Detroit Auto Show, is scheduled from September 17 to 25, and a lot is going on this year. 

"Experience" is the operative word at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, said the news release. Nine days of new vehicle displays and exhibits at Huntington Place, Hart Plaza and downtown Detroit, with indoor and outdoor ride-and-drives, air mobility demonstrations, family-friendly events, musical entertainment, auto enthusiast car clubs, street food and more.

Highlights for the 2022 Auto Show will include a "Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounter," a Jurassic walk-thru experience featuring life-like and life-size dinosaurs, according to the news release adding that Fred Flintstone’s original car, built by George Barris for the Universal Studios 1994 feature motion picture “The Flintstones,” will be on display at the event and is noted as family-friendly and fun for the kids.

The world’s first battery-powered Monster Truck and Monster Truck Throwdown event will be held daily during the September dates at the Hart Plaza.

Attendees will see hundreds of new vehicles and experience some of these products through ride activations, including active tracks inside the Huntington Place convention center; according to the news release, adding that individuals will also have the option to jump into the driver’s seat and take a Volkswagen or Chevrolet for a spin on a street course ride-and-drive along a portion of the 2023 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix downtown circuit.

In addition, the "Air Mobility Experience” will be going on as the "show above the show," the news release said, adding that the air show will fill the skies bringing "science fiction into reality."
