Police are searching for two subjects who robbed a bank in Luther on Sept. 22, initiating the lock down and evacuation of Baldwin Community Schools.

According to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, at 10:27 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, two subjects wearing masks entered the Lake-Osceola State Bank in Luther, about 35 miles north of Big Rapids. They gave the teller a note demanding money. After getting the money, they left on foot.
The note also indicated there was a bomb at a school, however it did not specify which school. According to the news release, security and lockdown protocols were activated Baldwin Community Schools, which is common practice.
"This is only precautionary," Lake County Sheriff Rich Martin said in a news release sent out Thursday afternoon. "We believe there is no threat to the general public at this time."
After further investigation, students were evacuated to the Yates Township Hall in Idlewild, about 6 miles east of the schools, to be release to their parents. According to the news release, the Michigan State Police K-9 unit will be clearing the buildings.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office has released a photo of the two suspects taken from the bank's video footage. Anyone with information relating to this incident is encouraged to contact Det./Lt. Nixon at 231-745-2712 or Silent Observer at 231-745-7581.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the FBI, Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement, Osceola County Sheriff's Office, Newaygo Area Emergency Response Team, Luther Fire Department, Yates Dial-A-Ride and Yates Township.
