Crossroads Car Show in Reed City earns over $8,000 for Veterans' Memorial Park Fund

Hundreds come out to support cause

REED CITY — The Betten Baker Veterans Memorial Park Car Show sponsored by Crossroads Car Club in downtown Reed City was a successful event with close to 80 cars of all different types lining the street this weekend and over 500 spectators viewing the classic cars on show. 

The event raised over $8,000 for the Veterans Memorial Park fund project. The next step for the park is to get an architect to draw up official drawings from previous artwork and plans, organizer Russ Nehmer said.

This year's trophy winners are:

  • Most Likely to Get Pulled Over sponsored by Hold Fast Tattoo, a 1914 Ford Model T owned bby Bob Godbold;
  • Kid’s Choice Award sponsored by Newbees Daycare Center, a 1976 Chevy Corvette owned by Russ Nehmer; 
  • Veterans Award sponsored by Pompeii's Pizza, a 1985 Chevrolet K10 Pickup owned by Adam Beukema;
  • Best Make/Model Truck sponsored by JR Customs and Collisions, a 1954 International owned by Jim Smith
  • Best Make/ Model Car sponsored by South Park Homes, a 1964 Pontiac Catalina owned by Kirk Brandt;
  • Peoples Choice Award sponsored by Lake-Osceola State Bank, a 1956 Ford F100 owned by Matt Smith; 
  • Mayor's Choice Trophy sponsored by Gerber Construction, a 1964 Chevrolet C10 Pickup owned by Russell Young; and
  • Sponsors Trophy by Ebels General Stores, a 1955 Chevrolet 210 owned by Kal Kailing 

“I want to thank the 82 wonderful sponsors again,” Nehmer said. “Their generosity and support helped our event and raffle to be a huge success once again this year. A huge shout out to the many volunteers that make events like these happen.”
