REED CITY -- Osceola County Board of Commissioners member Mark Gregory was reappointed by unanimous vote to serve as the vice-chairman of the board for 2020 during the organizational meeting Jan. 7.

"I'm very honored to be serving as vice-chair," Gregory said. "I look forward to another year of doing the county's business."

The vice chairman is appointed for a one-year term.

Chairman Jack Nehmer, appointed for a two-year term, will continue his tenure through 2020.

The following committee appointments for the new year were approved by BOC members at a meeting Dec. 17:

Health, Safety & Grounds Committee: Chair, Mark Gregory; Vice-Chair, Roger Elkins; Jack Nehmer; and Alt., Jim Custer Finance Committee: Chair, Jill Halladay; Vice-Chair, Jim Custer; Tim Michell; and Alt., Roger Elkins Personnel and Administration Committee: Chair, Jack Nehmer; Vice-Chair, Roger Elkins; Jill Halladay; and Alt., Larry Emig BOC Chairperson Jack Nehmer was appointed to the Central Michigan Public Health Committee, Local Emergency planning Team, Northern Michigan Counties Association, Osceola County Housing Committee and the Osceola County Land Bank Authority.

BOC member Mark Gregory was appointed to the 911 Authority Board, Local Emergency Planning Team and Parks Commission.

BOC member Larry Emig was appointed to the Area Agency on Aging, Lake County Planning Commission, Health and Human Services Board, Human Services Coordinating Board, Michiganworks!

West Central Board, Northern Michigan Counties Association and the Youth Attention Center Board.

BOC member Roger Elkins was appointed to the Central Michigan Public Health Committee, Community Mental Health Central Michigan, Parks Commission and the West Michigan Regional Planning Commission.

BOC member Tim Michell was appointed to the Commission on Aging Advisory Board, Mid Michigan Community Action Agency, Michigan State University Extension Advisory Council, Osceola County Road Commission liaison (alt.) and the Osceola Lake Conservation District.

BOC member Jim Custer was appointed to the Community Corrections Committee, County Planning Commission, Michigan State University Extension Advisory Council, Osceola County Road Commission Liaison, and the Parks Commission.

The BOC set the following meeting dates for 2020: Jan. 7 and 22, Feb. 4 and 19, March 3 and 17, April 7 and 21, May 5 and 19, June 2 and 16, July 7 and 21, Aug. 4 and 18, Sept. 1 and 15, Oct. 6 and 20, Nov. 3 and 17, Dec. 1 and 16.

Board of Commissioners meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of each month unless otherwise posted.

Meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of Commissioner's Room of the Osceola County Courthouse, 301 West Upton Ave., Reed City.
