REED CITY — Clarence William “Sonny” Strelow, 79, of Reed City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 at Mecosta County Medical Center.

He was born March 3, 1932, in Saginaw to Clarence H. and Ethel (Shappee) Strelow and attended school in Saginaw.

Clarence was a resident of this area since 1959 and had worked at Tubelite, where he had been a union steward.

Surviving are his children, Clarence “Bill” (Jody) Strelow II, of Reed City, John Strelow, of Hersey, and Rita (Leo Whitaker) Strelow, of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister Gwenney Byersdorf; his love, Mable Baumgardner, and her children, Laura Luce, Danny and Vicky Baumgardner, John and Tina Baumgardner, Art and April Baumgardner, Bill and Carla Baumgardner; 32 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his special aunt, Vella Stringer.

In his younger days, Clarence loved to race cars and work on them.  His second passion was hunting and fishing with his fishing buddies Rodney Breckman and George Scarbrough.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at Lincoln Township Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
