Photo courtesy of Angels of ActionBIG RAPIDS — Batter up! The second annual Angels in the Outfield charity softball tournament comes up to the plate at 8 a.m. July 23 at the LeRoy Ball Fields.
Sponsored by Osceola County Farm Bureau, the event benefits Angels of Action, a Big Rapids-based charity fighting hunger throughout Osceola County. Last year’s inaugural tournament raised $3,600 for the organization, whose Backpack Blessings program delivers hundreds of essential-filled packs to local K-12 students every school year.
“We’ve secured a grant that’ll match whatever we raise up to $2,500,” County Farm Bureau President Sandy Keller said. “We’d love to give that full $5,000 to this very worthy and vital charity that does such good work for families all over Osceola County.”
Shirts and concessions will be available on-site. New this year, organizers welcome area crafters to market their wares all day for a nominal $25 booth fee.
Both men’s and co-ed brackets are available. Player fees are $100 per team or $10 per individual; Farm Bureau members play for free.
