COA announces Senior Lunch Bunch

Osceola County -- The Osceola County Commission on Aging (COA) is launching a "COA Senior Lunch Bunch."

"The COA is excited to announce our new and improved 'Taste of Osceola'." COA director Justin Halladay said. "We will be collaborating with area restaurants in an effort to give seniors a chance to taste the delicious foods they prepare."

This month, the lunches will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, and Feb. 21.

Mr. Pibs Restaurant in LeRoy is sponsoring the outings in February and will donate a portion of their proceeds from a day of their choosing to the COA program.

"From what I can see, this is pretty original for this area, and our seniors are really looking forward to the day," Halladay said.

"We have approximately 30 seniors signed up to go on both days in February," he added. "That exceeds our expectations, and we are pleased that our seniors can enjoy some socialization time and that our local businesses can get the recognition they deserve for supporting us. All seniors are encouraged to join us for lunch at Mr. Pibs this month."

Transportation options are available through the COA for any seniors that need a ride to the restaurant.

Mecosta Osceola Transit Authority (MOTA) will be providing transportation to those who sign up.

"Come and enjoy a 'Taste of Osceola' with us," Halladay said. "We look forward to seeing everyone there."
