REED CITY — Betty J. McLachlan, 90, of Reed City, passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital.
Betty was born on May 4, 1923, in Tustin, to Raymond and Essie Louise (Gallop) Plumhoff. She graduated from Evart High School in 1941. Betty married Delbert J. McLachlan in Evart on Oct. 1, 1941. She was a Tustin resident until the age of 16, then moved to the Evart area and retired to Reed City in 1994. Betty worked at Evart Products for 14 years and helped with her husband's excavating business. She was a member of the Evart Quilting Club, a member of South Evart Free Methodist Church and recently she was attending the Congregational Church in Hersey. Betty enjoyed bowling, traveling, crocheting and gardening.
Betty is survived by her husband of more than 72 years, Delbert J. McLachlan, of Reed City; a daughter, Karol (Patrick) Tracy, of Sanford; two sons, Donald J. (Helen) McLachlan, of Reed City, and Lawrence (Gloria) McLachlan, of Weidman; six grandchildren, Chris (Bill) Squires Jr., of Reed City, Karen (Mark) Mand, of Wisconsin, Bruce (Sherry) McLachlan, of Virginia, Lance Mercer, of Cadillac, Richard (Teresa) McLachlan, of Weidman, and Kevin (Tiffany) McLachlan, of Sears; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Norma; brother, Leslie; and grandson, Donald Jr.
A celebration of life for Betty Jean McLachlan will be held on her birthday, on May 4, 2014, at a time and place yet to be determined.
