Betty Lou Leudeman
Betty Lou Leudeman, 84, of LeRoy, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013, in the skilled nursing unit of Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital.
Betty was born to Oscar and Ara-Adna (Sampson) Miller on July 12, 1928, in Luther, the youngest of 13 children. She graduated from Luther High School in 1945. On February 28, 1948, she married Dean Leudeman in Luther. They lived in LeRoy their entire married lives where they raised three children. Betty and Dean were active in the community and owned and operated several businesses, including a small grocery store, Leudeman Trucking and Leudeman Packing companies. They also established the LeRoy Village Market with daughter and son-in-law Dale and Lori Gingrich.
Betty loved and enjoyed her family. She was a wonderful cook and anyone who stopped in would be expected to stay for a meal. She sewed everything, from flannel shirts and prom dresses to dolls for her grandchildren. She especially loved new babies and never passed up an opportunity to rock them. She was an excellent card player and also enjoyed camping, bowling and snowmobiling. She was a Cub Scout Den mother, a 4-H sewing leader and was a very active member of the LeRoy United Methodist Church, organizing hundreds of luncheons and meals.
She is survived by Dean Leudeman, her husband and partner of 65 years; children, Kim (Lori) Leudeman, Lori (Dale) Gingrich both of LeRoy; son-in-law, Tom Hill of Tustin; eight grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kris Hill; grandson, Dusty Leudeman and 12 siblings.
A memorial service for Betty will be held at 11 a.m. on June 15, 2013, at the LeRoy United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and a luncheon to follow.
