CHIPPEWA TWP. — Arnold Lee Church, 85, of Chippewa Township, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at the home of his daughter near Hersey.

Mr. Church was born on May 5, 1931, in Evart, to Alexander E. and Etta Mae (Crusen) Church. He married Ruth M. Parrish on Nov. 22, 1950, in Big Rapids, and she preceded him in death April 22, 2014. Arnold was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He retired from GM in 1985 and moved to the Evart area from Davison. Mr. Church was a member of UAW Local No. 599. Arnold enjoyed hunting and tinkering with old tractors.

Arnold is survived by four children, Lila Sawvel, of Otisville, Michael (Diane) Church, of Mecosta, Sandra (William) Paul, of Rodney, and Dianne (Alexander) Ignash of Hersey; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ada Draper, of Bristol, and Irma Eggert, of Grand Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; four sisters, Mildred, Thelma, Mary and Dorothy; and three brothers, Roy, Claude and Glenn.

Funeral services for Arnold Lee Church will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart, with the Rev. Ed Raby officiating. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at the funeral home. Mr. Church will be laid to rest next to his wife in Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart.
