Arlene Marie Swarthout

EVART — Arlene Marie Swarthout, 70, of Evart, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Metron of Big Rapids.

Arlene was born in Barryton on March 14, 1944, to James Sr. and Gladys (DeWitt) Squires. She was a 1962 graduate of Farwell High School. Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family and her cat, Butchie, activities at the Evart Moose Lodge, quilting, sewing, karaoke and bird watching.

She is survived by her children, William (Cheryl) Werner, of Sanford, Colo., Anthony (Angie) Werner, of Alamosa, Colo., Sandra (Jeff) Barden, of Marshall, N.C., Shondell (Greg) Higel, of Alamosa, Colo., and Wesley (Holly) Werner, of St. Johns; her siblings, James R. (Rozella) Squires, of Alamosa, Colo., Larry Sr. (Shirley) Squires, of Mosca, Colo., Kevin (Cindy) Squires, of Alamosa, Colo., Cindy Pike, of Evart, Joyce Turley, of Jacksonville, Fla., Vicki Squires, of Lincoln, Neb., and Tomalou Squires, of Cadillac; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her cat of 13 years, her beloved Butchie.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Alamosa Christian Church, 410 McQuerry St., in Alamosa. Colo. There also will be a service at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church, in Evart, with Pastor Tony Werner officiating. There will be a luncheon immediately following at the Evart Moose Lodge.
