EVART — Albert Kenneth Halfyard, 82, of Evart, passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at his home at Lake Miramichi.

Albert was born on Sept. 22, 1931, in Detroit, to George William & Edna (Butt) Halfyard. Albert graduated from Redford Union High School in 1949. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War where he served in U.S. Navy Aviation. He married Jeananne Widmer on March 26, 1971, in Dearborn. Albert worked as an engineer for Sinai Hospital in Detroit for 23 years and retired from Dearborn to Lake Miramichi near Evart in 2003. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Evart. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed nature and animals, a creative builder and fixer and loved his dogs, which were many throughout his lifetime.

Albert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jeananne Halfyard, of Evart; two daughters, Allison (Thomas) Duchene, of Macomb and Jaki (Richard Abbott) Main, of Bangor; two sons, John (Patty) Widmer, of Novi, and Jeff (Sooze) Widmer, of Augusta; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Harriet; and two brothers, Oliver and George.

Albert will be buried in Ft. Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek with full military honors at a date yet to be determined.
