EVART - EVART - It takes hard work to run a business while being a part of a community, and members of the Evart Area Chamber of Commerce seek to annually recognize business owners who go the extra mile. For 2013, Evart resident and entrepreneur Eric Schmidt is the recipient of the Business Person of the Year award. "I was shocked," Schmidt said. "I didn't expect it and I had no idea they were talking about it." Schmidt has been self-employed since he was 18 years old, starting with a DJ business. Now, he is the owner of Affordable Prints in Evart, helps with a number of community events and is the current city mayor. "This award is for chamber members who go above and beyond the line of duty," said chamber treasurer Chad Booher. "It's a way to recognize those individuals." Schmidt said he always tries to become better as time continues. "What you put into something, you'll get it back ten fold," he said. "If you want to be a leader, then lead."
