OSCEOLA COUNTY - Police recovered the body of a 76-year-old Sylvan Township man who drowned in Mud Lake on Tuesday. The man, whose name has not been released at this time, left his home on the lake to go fishing around 9 p.m. on Monday, said Osceola County Undersheriff Justin Halladay. When his wife awoke around midnight, she noticed her husband had not returned and headed to the lake to search for him. She found him face down in the water in between his fishing boat and the dock, Halladay said. Osceola County Sheriff's deputies, along with crews from Osceola County Emergency Medical Services and Evart Fire Department, responded to the scene and confirmed the man had died. The man's wife told deputies he couldn't swim, but Halladay said the water near the dock was shallow. It remains unclear if an accident or medical condition caused the man to fall into the lake. "We know he drowned because he had water in his lungs, but we don't know if he had a heart attack or stroke and fell into the water," he said. "It was nothing suspicious." The incident remains under investigation. Halladay expects the office to release the man's name on Wednesday. For continued coverage, stick with theheraldreview.com\u00a0for updates.
