REED CITY -- Construction is well underway for the new location of West Michigan Credit Union on 220th Avenue. Gerber Construction began the work on July 1 and construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year, according to project manager Renee Wawrzyniak. Once the building on 220th is open, the firm's location on South Chestnut Street will be closed, she said. "We are moving to the new facility from our current location in Vic's shopping center," Wawrzyniak said. "We are excited that the new building will allow us to offer drive-through service, something we did not have previously." The company anticipates hiring two or three additional part-time employees for the new location, and is in the process of interviewing for those positions now. A ribbon cutting is tentatively planned for December, but no concrete date has been set as of yet.
