EVART—Although her business is just starting out, Tracey Burgess already has plans for expanding the services she offers. Burgess opened Superior Touch Home Care, located at 210 N. Main St. in Evart, in May and had a ribbon cutting ceremony last Wednesday. The business provides non-medical services for home care, such as house cleaning, meal preparations, transportation and more. In the future, Burgess would like to provide medical care as well. “We do anything to help make it more comfortable and easier to stay at home for recovery and be able stay out of a nursing home or assisted living facility,” Burgess said. Burgess has worked in the medical field since 1998, working as a CNA and nurse, and most recently in-home health care. Before opening Superior Touch Home Care, Burgess was driving five days a week to Grand Rapids for her in-home health care job. She researched and found there are no businesses between Traverse City and Grand Rapids that offer skilled medical care, which is what Burgess soon hopes to provide. “It’s easier with Michigan weather to have a service offered out of a location that isn’t as far away,” Burgess said. “It’s hard to get someone to come from 200 miles away in a blizzard to come take care of you.” So far, Burgess has one client she works with. She is currently the only employee, and will serve any area at any hour for in-home care. Burgess said a business like hers has never been in the area, and she hopes to be able to help those in need in any way possible. “I love in-home care,” Burgess said. “It’s amazing to be able to give these people the care and attention they deserve, that individual attention they may not get in a nursing home… Sometimes all people want is just someone to listen to them.” For information on Superior Touch Home Care, contact Tracey at (231) 735-2762.
