OSCEOLA COUNTY - An investigation is ongoing after a methamphetamine dump site was found on Saturday in Marion Township in Osceola County. The Mecosta-Osceola Central Dispatch received a call of a possible methamphetamine dump site. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office personnel along with clandestine\/methamphetamine laboratory responders from the Traverse Narcotics Team arrived at the reported dump site. The Clan-Lab Responders of TNT observed chemicals, components and apparatus commonly used for the one-pot method of manufacturing methamphetamine. "The investigation is still pending," said Osceola County Undersheriff Justin Halladay. "The site has been cleaned up and we want to let the public know as the snow melts they may come in contact with these things and they should contact police." If you encounter suspicious materials, do not touch or move them. Record the location of the items and contact local law enforcement, Halladay said. The chemicals are dangerous and need to be taken care of by professionals, he added. In the past, Halladay said they have been able to track down manufacturers of methamphetamine who have dumped their materials. "If we put it out there, someone may come forward and say they saw suspicious activity in the area or have an idea who the items belong to," Halladay said. Those with tips or information regarding the investigation are asked to contact the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at (231) 832-2288.
