EVART — It's once again time for the annual Evart Meatloaf Dinner fundraiser to raise money for the Evart fireworks which are seen every Independence Day. To help raise funds for this year’s summertime celebration, members of the Evart Chamber of Commerce are hosting their annual meatloaf dinner and silent auction event, which will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, at the Moose Lodge, located on U.S. 10 in Evart. Members hope to collect at least $4,000 during the dinner to help cover the cost of the fireworks, according to Molly Cataldo, this year's fundraiser organizer. For a low fee, fundraiser attendees will receive a meatloaf dinner complete with sides, desserts and beverages. Children under 5 are free and carry-out boxes are available. They also will have an opportunity to participate in a 50/50 raffle and bid on a number of silent auction items donated by businesses and members of the Evart community. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Evart Public Library or at First Merit Bank, and those who do attend the dinner will be entered in a separate raffle drawing. Cataldo said gift items, including gift certificates, baked goods, a handmade quilt and an American flag that has flown over the capital building in Lansing are up for bid. More items are soon to come in, she added. To donate an auction item or for more information, call Molly Cataldo at (231) 734-5871.
