REED CITY - Health and nutrition is the focus of the upcoming free cooking series offered by Michigan State University Extension. The seven-week series will run from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 8, Oct. 15, Oct. 29, Nov. 5, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19. Attendees must commit to all seven courses, which are taught by a chef and nutritionist. Class topics include healthy snacks, shopping smart, planning balanced meals, food safety at home, tips for eating out and cooking tips from the chef. Attendees will receive free groceries and a free cookbook. The series will take place at the Reed City Church of the Firstborn, located at 310 S.
