MECOSTA COUNTY — A former Osceola County Sheriff’s Department corrections officer was arraigned on Oct. 18 in the Mecosta County District Court for sending pornographic pictures to the county’s department heads and elected officials in March. Darin Raymond, 47, of Paris, was charged with two counts of using a computer to commit a crime and two counts of unlawful posting of a message. If convicted, he could serve a maximum sentence of two years in prison. Raymond currently is out on a $5,000 cash bond. The pornographic pictures were sent after being altered to include the faces of two OCSD corrections department employees. Raymond had worked for the department for 13 years. “I don’t know why he did it. I guess he was just a disgruntled employee,” said Osceola County Sheriff Jim Crawford. “I don’t understand why anybody would do that to anybody, even if they dislike them.” Raymond was put on indefinite leave after investigators tracked the message to a computer’s IP address. He is no longer employed with the department. He is scheduled for a pre-trial conference at 10 a.m. on Nov. 20 and a preliminary examination at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 27.
